Kate Smitko

Kate Smitko, MA, ABC is a marketing and communications expert with extensive experience in various leadership roles. Currently, Kate serves as the Manager of Marketing and Communications at Pet Planet Canada and as the Executive Director of Kali's Wish Cancer Foundation, the only charity in Canada focused on supporting pet families through pet cancer. As Principal at Smitko Communications, Kate specializes in strategic planning and execution in public relations, marketing, and social media. Previous roles include serving on the Board of Directors for the Calgary Fetal Alcohol Network and as a Media and Communications Specialist for the Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council. With a strong background in journalism, with experience as a News Reporter and Video Journalist at CTV A-Channel News and Citytv Calgary, Kate has also held significant positions at the United Way of Calgary and Area, where Kate led marketing efforts and media relations. Kate holds a Master’s degree in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University and various other qualifications in PR, management, and journalism.
