Peter F May Consulting International

Peter F. May is a versatile international consultant with more than 25 years’ experience in the global higher education and development assistance sectors. Peter advises US and international institutions on matters driving internationalization strategy, including business structure, governance, strategic program partnerships, contracts, employment, risk and crisis management, compliance, and global expansion. He has served two major institutions as a presidential cabinet member, managing a broad portfolio of business, legal and governing board functions across more than 45 countries. Peter’s unique global perspective, deep intercultural competence, and successful track record working with board members, executives and organizational managers make him a valuable addition to any team tackling the challenges of cross-border activities. Peter has a particular gift for facilitating the effective development of innovative international partnerships and compliant global program infrastructure. Peter speaks frequently on the globalization of higher education. His writing has appeared in the Chronicle of Higher Education, the Journal of College and University Law, and the Boston University Law Review. In 2016, he was interviewed by InsideHigherEd concerning security issues and a Board's fiduciary role in analyzing risk following the kidnappings of two faculty members in Kabul from the American University of Afghanistan. Peter holds a B.A., cum laude, in French Literature from Yale University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the Boston University School of Law. He lives with his wife, daughter, and two sons in the rolling green hills of Southern Vermont, USA.
