Petestep

Petestep AB is a company founded around an innovation for planing boat hulls. After 8 years of research and development, the company has gathered world leading knowledge and expertise within the function and performance of planing hulls. The idea is to lower energy losses in the water flow under the boat and to reduce the wetted surface that creates friction under the boat. Great effort has been made to develop a reliable simulation tool, where the boats can be driven with very high accuracy before they are built. With these, unparalleled calculations, the need for prototyping can be decreased. The innovation allows Petestep to optimize hulls that consumes up to 35% less fuel or rides softer with 35% lower vertical accelerations in waves than today’s best hulls. Simultaneously, the technology makes the boats quieter, more stable and safer. Handpicked leading experts in Sweden and Europe have under NDA seen and praised the innovation. Now, official launch is pending and the first Petestep hulls will be on the market this winter 2015/2016. The goal is to improve motorboats worldwide, to create a seal of quality and eventually establish an industry standard for planing motorboats. Mid November 2015, Petestep’s patent was issued, with Swedish patent number 537 875. The company will, together with the customer, create complete hull designs tailored for a specific boat model, in exchange for a license fee. HOC Yachts will be the first customer to use a Petestep hull in a series production, with the model HOC 33 P, built by Swedish Composites on the island of Gotland.
