Joseph Schinaman has a strong background in biotechnology and scientific research. Joseph co-founded Petri Bio in 2019 and currently holds the positions of Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at the company. Prior to this, Joseph worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA from 2015 to 2019. During their time there, they focused on investigating the impact of aging-related changes to the microbiome on healthspan and lifespan. Joseph was also able to discover a link between pharmaceutical use and microbiome changes. Their research on rapamycin's effects on tissue aging and lifespan in Drosophila was published in a scientific journal.
Joseph Schinaman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Case Western Reserve University in 2009. Joseph then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neurogenetics at the same university from 2009 to 2015. In 2019, Joseph briefly attended the LA BioStart Bioscience Entrepreneurs Boot Camp at California State University, Los Angeles, though it is unclear if they obtained a degree from this program.
