Brian Baynes

Dr. Brian Baynes is an entrepreneur, inventor, and investor. He was a co-founder of Midori Health (novel fibers for animal nutrition and health), Kaleido Biosciences (a chemistry-driven approach to therapeutic microbiome control; NASDAQ:KLDO), Celexion (protein engineering and synthetic biology for biopharma and industrial applications; sold to Agenus), and Codon Devices (synthetic biology tools; sold to Gen9/Ginkgo Bioworks). Dr. Baynes is a Venture Partner with Flagship Pioneering, where he has served as an executive in early-stage ventures, on the funds’ investment committees, and on company boards in the healthcare and sustainability sectors. Previously he was an engineer at ExxonMobil and a Director in the MIT School of Chemical Engineering Practice at Mitsubishi Chemicals and General Mills. He holds a BChE from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from MIT.
