Clarissa Black founded Pets for Vets in 2008 and served as the Executive Director. At Pets for Vets, they focused on helping military veterans transition back to civilian life by providing them with emotional support through the companionship of animals. Prior to their work at Pets for Vets, Clarissa worked as a Dolphin Trainer at Dolphin Quest from 2004 to 2008.
Clarissa Black obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Animal Sciences from Cornell University, where they studied from 2000 to 2004. Clarissa further pursued their education by earning a Master's degree in Anthrozoology from Canisius University, which they attended from 2013 to 2015.
