Joshua Allen

Joshua Allen has a diverse range of work experience. Joshua currently works at Pezesha as an Enterprise Risk Manager, where they manage portfolio and data operations across all loan books. In this role, they design and implements strategies to mitigate credit risk and maintains healthy portfolios across Kenya, Uganda, and Ghana. Joshua is also responsible for iterating and scaling the modelling frameworks for Pezesha's credit scoring SAS offering.

Prior to their current position, Joshua worked at the Bank of England as a Portfolio Manager from September 2019 to January 2023. Before that, they were a Data Scientist from January 2018 to September 2019 and a Data Analyst from August 2017 to January 2018.

Joshua also has experience as an International Advisor at the Overseas Development Institute, where they provided technical assistance to the macroeconomic statistics division in Timor-Leste. Joshua contributed to various projects, including the reweight of the CPI basket and the development of the first PPI. Joshua also supported macroeconomic and central bank policy committees and conducted capacity building programs in regional offices.

Earlier in their career, Joshua worked as a Customer Sales Representative at EE, where they provided advice and support to customers while generating sales. Joshua also worked as a Medical Researcher at The University of Sheffield and as a Teaching Assistant at Kumon, where they provided one-on-one tuition and guidance to students.

Joshua Allen has a strong educational background in finance and mathematics. Joshua earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Mathematical Statistics and Probability from The University of Sheffield in 2014. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Statistics and Financial Mathematics at the same university from 2014 to 2015. Joshua then went on to further enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of banking and finance by completing an MSc degree at the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School from 2018 to 2021.
