Mike Smales

Mike Smales has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Mike is the Founder and CTO at PF Nexus since October 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a 2020 Future VC Remote Participant at Future VC from June 2020 to August 2020. From September 2018 to June 2020, they provided CTO, COO services, and mentorship to various startups through their own consulting firm, Mike Smales Consulting. Mike also founded and served as the CTO of Chestnut, a startup focused on AI and IoT technology for infant health and new parent wellbeing, from May 2019 to February 2020. Before that, they worked as an Entrepreneur In Residence at IMG ARENA Greenhouse from January 2019 to April 2019. Mike Smales had a significant role at Chirp, where they served as the Chief Operating Officer & Company secretary from June 2017 to August 2018 and as the SVP of Operations from October 2016 to July 2017. Mike also held the position of VP of Engineering at Chirp from December 2015 to October 2016. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Mobile Engineer (consultant) at Drayson Technologies Ltd from August 2015 to January 2016. Mike Smales was the Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder at Aperations LLC from September 2013 to August 2015, where they provided technical consultancy and worked on various projects for start-up companies. Prior to that, they were the Head of Mobile Apps at The Running Bug in 2014. Mike began their career at Moshen as a Senior Mobile Engineer and Team Lead from November 2011 to September 2013, working for high-profile clients and VC backed startups.

Mike Smales completed their education at Lancaster University from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained an MSci degree in Communications and Computer Systems. Mike later pursued a certification in Machine Learning Nanodegree from Udacity in 2018.

In addition to their education, Mike Smales has obtained additional certifications. In July 2020, they completed the Future VC 2020 cohort program offered by Future VC. Mike also achieved the AAT Essentials Budgeting certification from AAT, though the specific month and year are not provided.
