Yang Wong

Yang Wong is a seasoned data scientist with extensive experience across multiple companies in the tech and finance sectors. Currently, Yang serves as a data scientist at Phantom since February 2025. Prior to this role, Yang was the research lead at dYdX from October 2022 to February 2025, where the transition to a data-driven culture was spearheaded. Yang's experience also includes a role as a senior data scientist at Coinbase, contributing to patented optimization algorithms for liquidity management, and at Lyft, where data pipelines for self-driving autonomy systems were developed. During earlier career stages, Yang built predictive machine learning models at Affirm, conducted research at Stanford University, and interned at QRI and Halliburton. Education includes a PhD in Petroleum Engineering with a minor in Computer Science, and an M.S. in Petroleum Engineering, both from Stanford University, along with a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Auckland.
