Alastair Shum

Alastair Shum is a qualified pharmacist with extensive experience in medicines control and public health. Currently serving as Team Leader and Senior Advisor for Medicines Control at the Ministry of Health New Zealand since May 2022, Alastair has also held various roles in the pharmaceutical sector, including Senior Advisory Pharmacist at the Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand and Pharmacist positions within the Village Pharmacy Group. Alastair's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Otago and a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health, specializing in Health Economics from the same institution. Alastair's career also features experience as a COVID-19 Vaccinator and as an Intern Assessment Centre Assessor for the Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand.
