Matt Ryals has worked in various roles in the field of data science since 2009. In 2007, they began their professional career as a Customer Service employee at Boar's Head Inn. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Virginia. In 2011, they were awarded a Postbachelor IRTA Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Research Specialist at the University of Virginia. In 2013, they moved to UC San Diego and worked as a Research Technician. Matt Ryals obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine between 2014 and 2018.
