Yiqun Shi

SVP, Medicinal Chemistry at Pharmaron

Dr. Yiqun (Eric) Shi is Senior Vice President of Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Shi joined Pharmaron in April 2013, bringing with him more than 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, running programs from inception to clinical development. Dr. Shi worked at Palatin Technologies as a Senior Scientist and rose through the ranks to Director of Medicinal Chemistry in 2005. His research focus was in the field of CNS drugs, metabolic diseases and inflammation-targeting GPCR receptors. His contributions were in hit-to-lead, lead identification, lead optimization and lead selection processes. He is responsible for four drug candidates that went to IND-enabling studies and one compound in clinical trials. Dr. Shi has 15 publications and 36 issued U.S patents.

Dr. Shi received his B.S. degree in physical chemistry from Lanzhou University and Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry under the supervision of Professor Jiang Xi-Kui. Dr. Shi completed his postdoctoral work in the laboratories of Professor William Von Eggers Doering and Professor Robert Rando at Harvard University, and Professor Robert Abeles at Brandeis University in the research area of organic, enzymology and bio-organic chemistry.
