Will Alaynick is a seasoned entrepreneur and co-founder with extensive experience in the life sciences sector. As Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Phase Two Ventures since January 2023, Alaynick focuses on seed-stage investing in life science R&D. Alaynick co-founded Defined Bioscience in December 2019, which specializes in chemically defined, animal product-free cell culture media. Additionally, Alaynick played a pivotal role in founding NanoCellect Biomedical in 2009 and Arima Genomics in 2015, both aimed at advancing life sciences through innovative technologies. Alaynick's earlier career includes significant research roles at prestigious institutions, including the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and participation on various advisory boards. Educational credentials include a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from UC San Diego and a postdoctoral fellowship in Developmental Neurobiology from The Salk Institute.

We fuel early stage life science startups that focus on R&D tools, platform technologies, and computational biology to solve today's roadblocks and allow for tomorrow's discoveries and therapeutics to thrive. We aim to discover and support diverse science entrepreneurs with backgrounds in multi-omics, bioengineering, synthetic biology, and cell & gene therapies. Currently fundraising for Fund I and making select investments. We welcome discussions with entrepreneurial scientists ready to spin something out of academia or out of the garage.
