John Thomas Sauls

John Thomas Sauls has a diverse work experience. From January 2022, they have been working as the Head Of Engineering at PhAST. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of Bioengineering from August 2020 to December 2021 and worked as a Data Scientist from May 2020 to August 2020 at PhAST as well.

Before joining PhAST, John was a Graduate Student in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at the University of California, San Diego from October 2013 to October 2019.

John Thomas also worked as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at BRAIN AG from July 2012 to July 2013, where they focused on systems biology and metabolic engineering.

Prior to this, John was a DNA Padawan at Ginkgo BioWorks, Inc. from June 2011 to June 2012, contributing to making biology easier to engineer.

John Thomas started their career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Paul Janmey Biophysical Laboratory, IME, UPenn from May 2009 to May 2011.

John also gained experience as a Recording and Production Intern at The World Café, WXPN 88.5 from October 2008 to December 2010.

John Thomas Sauls received their education in a chronological order. John Thomas first attended North Carolina State University from 2006 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Pennsylvania from 2008 to 2011, earning both a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering in Bioengineering. Finally, from 2013 to 2018, they attended UC San Diego and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioinformatics.
