Pheasants Forever
Melanie Cowell is an experienced conservation professional currently serving as a Farm Bill Biologist for Pheasants Forever since July 2023. Prior roles include Conservation Technician at The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium, where sampling and surveying federally listed species were key responsibilities, and Research Technician at Rolling Plains Quail Research Foundation, focusing on Northern Bobwhite and Scaled Quail responses to land management. Additional experience includes leading a research crew for the U.S. Geological Survey on Greater Sage Grouse, engaging in various conservation projects with organizations such as the International Crane Foundation and Great Basin Bird Observatory, and conducting field research on American Woodcock and Golden-Winged Warblers. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from The Ohio State University, completed in 2018.

Pheasants Forever
Pheasants Forever is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs. At the heart of Pheasants Forever is the unique grassroots system of fundraising and project development that allows members to see the direct result of their contributions. Pheasants Forever and its quail division, Quail Forever, empower county and local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent - the only national conservation organization that operates through this truly grassroots structure. As a result, chapter volunteers are able to see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy.
