James Gilman is an accomplished professional in the field of football analytics, currently serving as the Director of Football Analytics for the Philadelphia Eagles since December 2018. Gilman's career at the Eagles has included roles as Assistant Director of Analytics, Senior Quantitative Analyst, and Quantitative Analyst, beginning with a Quantitative Research Internship. Prior to joining the Eagles, Gilman was a Research Assistant at NC State University, focusing on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons under the guidance of Dr. Alyson Wilson. Gilman also gained valuable experience through summer internships at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where work involved airport risk assessment modeling and analytic tool development for data visualization. An early career as a professional poker player from 2008 to 2012 provided insights into risk-taking, probability estimation, and decision-making under pressure.
