Nathan Renner-Johnson serves as the Executive Director at Philadelphia Scenic Works since June 2023 and has extensive experience in production management, notably as Production Manager at Pig Iron Theatre Company since October 2013 and previously as Production/General Manager at Delaware Theatre Company from July 2017 to July 2023. Nathan has held various roles in the theatre industry, including Box Office Manager positions at FringeArts and Capital Fringe, and Audience Services/Production Manager at Gulfshore Playhouse. Additional experience includes Assistant Production Manager at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Production Manager at ReVision Theatre. Nathan's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Theatre from Muhlenberg College, completed in 2010.

Philadelphia Scenic Works was formed by leaders from the Philadelphia region’s theatre and arts scene as a new non-profit arts workshop envisioned as a fully outfitted theatrical scene shop, paint space, props shop and workshop space capable of high level, affordable scenic and props fabrication and storage at partially subsidized costs. This effort looks to enable the region’s theatre companies and other cultural and educational organizations to maintain the highest artistic standards, while embracing a more sustainable future through shared pools of recycled, re-used and re-purposed stock and resources. PSW also provides much-needed training for entry level and aspiring technical directors, scenic carpenters and scenic painters; working towards the development of a sustainable pool of local, highly competent scenic fabricators.
