Brian Sheehan has a diverse background in real estate, sustainability, and urban development. Brian currently works at Phillips Edison & Company as Director - National Accounts & Real Estate Development (West), where they conduct portfolio reviews, expands the company's retailer base, and develops retail real estate projects. Prior to this, they held various roles including Leasing Professional and Leasing Associate at the same company.
Brian also has experience as an Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Cincinnati, where they were involved in entrepreneurship activities. Before that, Sheehan served as the Managing Director at Creative Green Marketing, a Corporate Social Responsibility solutions company. Brian also worked at Luxottica Retail North America as the Director of Sustainable Retail Innovation, focusing on sustainability initiatives.
Earlier in their career, Sheehan worked at Walmart as a Sustainability Manager, leading sustainability strategies and communications for Sam's Club. Brian was responsible for emerging issues and represented the company at sustainability meetings. Brian was also involved in the development of sustainable energy efficiency and renewable energy projects as the Co-Founder of CharlestonWISE, a real estate consultancy.
Sheehan has also held positions at the City of Charleston and the City of Portland, where they worked on urban development, sustainability planning, and community engagement. Brian began their career at the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), supporting the implementation of a Smart Growth Incentive Program and managing transit facility projects.
Brian Sheehan holds a Commercial Real Estate Certificate from Cornell University, which they obtained in 2019. Brian also holds a Master's degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon, which they earned between 1996 and 1999. Brian completed their undergraduate education at Miami University, where they obtained a BA in Philosophy & Political Science between 1990 and 1994. Additionally, they hold a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification from the US Green Building Council - Orange County, which they obtained in 2004. Brian attended St. Xavier High School, but there is no specified period of attendance or degree obtained from that institution.
