Amy Blakeney

Upper School History at Phoenix Country Day School

Amy Blakeney is an educator who is currently Upper School Theirtory at Phoenix Country Day School. Amy has previous experience working as an English-Language Learner Instructor, Teacher Mentor, and Public Administrator.

Amy Blakeney has been in the education field for over ten years. Amy started their career as a Public Administrator for the City of Phoenix. In this role, they worked with the city government to improve the quality of life for residents. Amy also helped to coordinate city-wide events and programs.

After a few years working in public administration, Amy decided to focus their career on teaching. Amy became an English-Language Learner Instructor at InterAct Speaking Center, where they helped students improve their English language skills. Amy then took on a role as a Teacher Mentor at Colegio Eton, where they increased student achievement with the highest International Baccalaureate scores during the first year of instruction. During their time at Colegio Eton, they also led and designed curriculum restructure of the IB Theory of Knowledge course for all grades.

Amy Blakeney is currently Upper School Theirtory at Phoenix Country Day School. In this role, they are responsible for teaching history to students in grades 9-12. Amy is also responsible for designing and implementing curriculum, as well as assessing student learning.

Amy Blakeney has a Master's Degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education/Social Science from Northern Arizona University, and certification from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing California in Preliminary Teaching Credential.
