Michelle Chao

Michelle Chao is the current Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Co-Founder at Phoenix Tailings, a company that specializes in green mining technologies. Prior to their current role, Michelle served as a Technical Product Manager at Markforged from July 2017 to December 2019 where they were responsible for the materials product portfolio including metal, continuous fiber and polymer materials on the Markforged printing platform. Michelle also has experience as a Protoworks Guardian at the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship from September 2016 to June 2017 where they helped manage the shop space, train users on equipment and provided technical expertise on design and fabrication. Michelle got their start as a Materials Intern at Voxel8: 3D Printing Electronics from June 2015 to August 2015 and later served as a Student Researcher at both the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from January 2014 to June 2014 and University of Houston from September 2011 to May 2013.

Michelle Chao graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering.

Alex Nyarko - TEM Lead, New Hire - Iron Bulk - Iron Bulk Lead, and New Hire - Operations Leader - VP of Operations report to Michelle Chao. They are on a team with Anthony Balladon - VP of Partnerships, Cameron Marsh - Controller, and New Hire - Business Associate. Michelle Chao reports to Nick Myers, CEO & Co-Founder.
