Tomas Villalon Jr. is the CTO and Co-Founder of Phoenix Tailings, a company that specializes in the joining of exotic materials. Tomas has over seven years of experience in the field of materials science and engineering.

Tomas received their PhD from Boston University in 2018. Tomas's research focused on the development of composite high temperature ceramic components via sintering in various environments. Tomas also developed and characterized non-ferrous electrodes for experimentation.

Prior to their time at Boston University, Tomas worked as an independent consultant for two years. Tomas specialized in the joining of exotic materials and assisted groups seeking to rapid create prototypes from bulk materials. Tomas also designed carbon fiber composite systems with various core materials.

Tomas has also worked as an engineering consultant for Digital Alloys from November 2018 to March 2020. In this role, they assessed failures caused by electrochemical corrosion mechanisms.

Tomas Villalon Jr. has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Materials Engineering from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Tomas is also certified from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an Engineer In Training.
