Matthew Szymanski is an accomplished music professional with extensive experience in orchestral management and conducting. Currently serving as Associate Director and Dean of Fellows at the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Tanglewood Music Center since May 2017, Matthew oversees the programmatic and artistic aspects for approximately 140 Fellows, including budget management and the commissioning of new works. As the Founder of The Phoenix Orchestra, Matthew leads initiatives to make classical music more accessible through innovative concert experiences and regular broadcasts on Twitch. Additional experience includes serving as Assistant Conductor for the New Philharmonia Orchestra, focusing on community outreach, and earlier roles in technical support and customer service. Matthew holds a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting and has a strong educational background in euphonium performance from prestigious institutions.
