Steve Thompson is an accomplished engineer and leader in the telecommunications field, currently serving as the Founder and Chief Technical Officer at PHY Wireless since October 2019. Previously, Steve held multiple leadership roles at Acorn Technologies, Inc., including Chief Technical Officer - Telecom and Senior Director, while also working as a Senior Engineer at the same company from August 2007 to May 2018. Early career experiences include positions at San Diego Research Center as an Engineer in Communication Systems, and significant academic contributions as a Postdoctoral Scholar and Graduate Student Researcher at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, where the dissertation focused on "Constant Envelope OFDM Phase Modulation." Steve's foundational engineering education includes a PhD in Electrical Engineering from UC San Diego and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University.
