Marion J. Bergman

Marion J. Bergman, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist who practiced pulmonary medicine and critical care in Patchogue, NY, for 33 years. As an advocate for rural health and development in the developing world, Dr. Bergman now directs health care projects for Miracle Corners of the World, Inc. She is also an adjunct assistant professor at New York University’s College of Nursing. Previously, Dr. Bergman directed Brookhaven Memorial Hospital’s Respiratory Care Services, served a term as medical staff president, mentored medical and international students, and – along with her family – provided scholarship support for South African health professionals from underprivileged backgrounds.

She serves on the advisory boards of Tel Aviv University’s Hartog School, Ben Gurion University’s Medical School for International Health, Temple University’s Dental School, and the Johns Hopkins Blumberg School of Public Health.

Dr. Bergman also serves on several non-profit boards, including the Global Child Dental Fund and American Jewish World Service. She also currently chairs the American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) Africa Institute and is a member of AJC’s board of governors and the Jacob Blaustein Institute for Human Rights.

Dr. Bergman holds an MD from the Witwatersrand Medical School in South Africa and an MPA from New York University’s Wagner School.
