Cathey E. Falvo

Dr. Falvo received her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester, her medical degree from SUNY Health Sciences Center in Syracuse and her MPH from Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health. She served in the U.S. Indian Health Service in Belcourt, ND as a general medical officer and director of community health.

After years as pediatrician for neighborhood health centers in Metro NYC, she joined the faculty of NY Medical College School of Public Health, first as chair of epidemiology and then as chair of global public health. She has spent time working overseas in, among other countries, Haiti, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Algeria and Albania.

Her interest in nuclear weapons started with Students for a Sane Nuclear Policy and then Joined PSR’s New York City Chapter in the early 1980’s. She became the PSR representative to the International Society of Doctors for the Environment (ISDE) and manages PSR and ISDE activities at the UN as well as representing ISDE on UNEP committees. Her interest in environment started in the Indian Health Services over issues of potable water and agricultural pesticides.

She retired from NYMC as Professor and Chair of Global Public Health and now is on the faculty of the Palm Beach County (FL) Department of Health Preventive Medicine Residency.
