Wolfgang Schmid

Wolfgang Schmid has a diverse work experience in the field of metrology. Wolfgang is currently serving as the Head of Section Industrial Metrology at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) since September 2022. Prior to this role, they were the Scientific Coordinator at PTB from January 2020 to August 2022.

Before joining PTB, Wolfgang worked at EURAMET - The European Association of National Metrology Institutes. Wolfgang served as the Member Service Manager from June 2015 to December 2019 and as the Head of Secretariat from 2007 to May 2015.

Wolfgang also had previous roles at Centro Nacional de Metrología, where they were the Coordinador Científico from 1998 to 2004. Additionally, Wolfgang worked as the Project Coordinator at PTB from 1995 to 1998 and as a Presidential Staff at PTB in 2005-2006.

Wolfgang Schmid completed their Abitur degree at Kaspar-Zeuss Gymnasium Kronach from 1974 to 1982. Following this, they pursued a PhD in Physics at the University of Bayreuth, which they successfully completed from 1983 to 1994.
