Michael Lee

Michael Lee has had an extensive and diverse work experience. Michael began their career at Unilever, where they held various positions from October 1996 to June 2009. In January 2007, they served as a Board Observer at Arecor Limited, a company specializing in protein and peptide stabilization technology.

In 2013, they joined Syngenta Group as the Managing Director of Syngenta Group Ventures. In this role, they were responsible for identifying and investing in early stage food and agriculture-related companies with innovative technology or business models. In March 2021, they became a Board Observer at Sayurbox, a position they currently hold.

Michael has also served as a Non Executive Director for several companies. Michael joined Phytech in November 2015, where they contributed to increasing crop yields and reducing water consumption for corn, cotton, and fruit/nut growers. Michael took on the role of Non Executive Director at Biognosys AG in July 2015, a leading proteomics company that was later sold to Bruker. Additionally, they served as a Non Executive Director at BioPhero from September 2018 to July 2022, a company focused on providing sustainable pest management solutions through bio-based pheromones.

In 2020, Michael became a Non Executive Director at WeedOUT, a position they held until June 2022. Michael also served as a Board Observer at Stable from May 2019 to March 2021. Furthermore, in 2005, Michael was a Fellow at Kauffman Fellows.

Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated a strong interest and expertise in the fields of agriculture, biopharmaceuticals, and technology.

Michael Lee obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from Durham University in the period between 1985 and 1988. Michael went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry also at Durham University from 1988 to 1992. Additionally, they attended the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University from 1999 to 2000, where they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
