Umesh Sawant

Umesh Sawant has over 25 years of work experience in the automotive industry. Umesh began their career in 1995 at Tata Motors Ltd as a Sr. Consultant/Sr. Engineer, where they worked on the India 475 IDI Diesel engine design and development, and independently handled the turbocharged version for the IDI engine intended for Sedan. In 2001, they joined General Electric - Transportation Systems as a Lead Designer, where they had ownership of the air handling and engine cooling subsystems of Tier II V12 and V16 Locomotive engines (Evolution series). In 2004, they joined Cummins Research and Technology India Ltd. as a Sr. Group Leader - Product Design, where they were responsible for developing global design and analysis teams for Heavy Duty Engines. In 2008, they joined Cummins, Inc. as a Lead Designer, where they were responsible for the 5L V8 new engine platform variant. In 2011, they joined Cummins Technologies India Pvt Ltd. as a Technical Leader - Cummins Filtration, where they were responsible for the global technical center from scratch. In 2013, they joined CUMMINS TECHNOLOGIES INDIA LIMITED as Director Engineering - Cummins Emission Solutions, where they were responsible for the global technical center startup and regional chief Engineering assisting fit for market technology development. In 2016, they joined Cummins India Ltd. as Director, Product Certification and Compliance, where they were responsible for product compliance and internal improvement driver for Cummins entities in India, product certification for all new Cummins products as well as upgrades, and liaison for test agencies, industry forums representing Cummins. In 2020, they became an Independent Consultant - Emission Regulations, Aftertreatment, Tech Center. Currently, they are the Chief Operating Officer at Pi Green Innovations Pvt. Ltd.

Umesh Sawant obtained their Engineer's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Engineering, Amravati in 1995. Umesh then furthered their education by obtaining an MBA in Business Administration and Management, General from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business in 2015.
