Maxine Cunningham has worked in a variety of roles in the fields of economics and sustainability since 2007. In 2007, they began as a Junior Analyst at the Centre for Applied Business Research in Energy and the Environment (CAMBREE). In 2009, they became a Regulatory Policy Analyst at the Alberta Utilities Commission, and a Fundraiser at the Canadian Building Energy End-Use Database and Analysis Centre. In 2011, they became an Economist at the International Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD) and a Partner, Founder & Economist at Doing Economics that Works (DEW). In 2012, they became an Economist at The State of Sustainability Initiatives (SSI). Finally, in 2018, they became the CEO & Cofounder of Pick My Brain, an online platform that helps people share their time, knowledge and experience with others.

Maxine Cunningham has a comprehensive educational background. Maxine obtained a Master's Degree in Economics from Queen's University in 2011, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from University of Alberta in 2010, and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) Honors in Finance from University of Alberta in 2009. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including an Influencer Interview: Oprah Winfrey from LinkedIn in June 2019, R Programming from Coursera Verified Certificates in March 2015, The Data Scientist’s Toolbox from Coursera Verified Certificates in February 2015, a Program on Investment Appraisal and Risk Analysis (PIAR) from John Deutsch International in June 2011, and Creative Non-Fiction: Literary Journalism and Beyond from The University of British Columbia in January 2015.
