Maria Vassalou

Maria Vassalou, Ph.D., currently serves as the Head of the Pictet Investment Research Institute at Pictet Group since January 2024. Prior to this role, Vassalou held significant positions at Goldman Sachs Asset Management as Co-Chief Investment Officer and Deputy CIO of Multi-Asset Solutions from July 2021 to January 2024. Vassalou is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Vassalou Capital Management LP from August 2019 to July 2021 and was a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Perella Weinberg Partners from July 2013 to August 2019. Earlier experience includes leading the Asset Allocation team at McKinsey Investment Office, serving as a Portfolio Manager at SAC Capital Advisors, and heading Quantitative Strategies at Soros Fund Management. Vassalou has also worked as a retained consultant at Citadel Investment Group and served as an Associate Professor of Finance at Columbia University from 1995 to 2006. Vassalou holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from London Business School.
