The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) is a community supported, locally focused 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that has proudly promoted and protected the natural resources, rural economy, history and beauty of the Virginia Piedmont since 1972. 

PEC empowers residents to protect what makes the Piedmont a wonderful place, and works with citizens to conserve land, protect air and water quality, celebrate historic resources, build smart transportation networks, promote sustainable energy choices, restore wildlife habitat and improve people’s access to nature.

Headquartered in Warrenton, VA, we have offices throughout a nine county Piedmont region that includes Albemarle, Clarke, Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Loudoun, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties.

The Communications and Outreach Team at the Piedmont Environmental Council engages and informs the community about environmental initiatives and conservation efforts. This team develops and implements strategic communication campaigns, coordinates events, and fosters partnerships to raise awareness and encourage citizen participation in protecting the region's natural resources and heritage. Through various multimedia channels and community advocacy, they strive to empower residents and promote sustainable practices throughout the Virginia Piedmont.
