Bernard Tarplin Jr. has extensive experience in emergency services and public safety, currently serving as a Fire Captain for the City of Decatur since January 2013, with prior roles as Fire Lieutenant and Fire Sergeant. Responsibilities include supervising personnel, maintaining medical quality control, coordinating training, and responding to emergency incidents. Tarplin is also a member of the City of Decatur Public Safety Retirement Board and holds multiple certifications such as NREMT Paramedic and Fire Inspector I. In addition to fire services, Tarplin has officiated at various levels of high school football for the Georgia High School Association since 2008. Educational achievements include a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Georgia Southern University.
