Managing Director - Gas & Regulatory Accounting at Piedmont Natural Gas

Rob Thornton has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Rob began their career in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class from 1977 to 1981. Following that, they worked as an Accountant at Duke Power from 1985 to 1990. Rob then served as the Controller at Ingersoll-Dresser Pump Company from 1990 to 1994. After that, they joined SCANA as the Director of Investor Relations & Financial Projects from 1994 to 2000. Rob then moved to Cox Technologies, Inc. as the Controller & Assistant Treasurer from 2000 to 2004. After Cox Technologies, they worked at HSBC Mortgage Services as a Manager in Regulatory Reporting from 2004 to 2006, and later as the Managing Director of Gas & Regulatory Accounting at Piedmont Natural Gas Co. from 2007.

Rob Thornton attended Walter M. Williams High School from 1974 to 1977, where they obtained a high school diploma. Rob later went on to study at the College of Charleston from 1981 to 1984, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting.
