Celebrating Queer Expression Through Design 🌈 From a very early age, as the only little girl who played on the football team, founder B Nicholson felt a strong responsibility to create space for others who may be marginalized, allowing them to feel safe and encouraged to embrace their own version of self-expression. Her love for art also started young, and these two passions informed each other, converging in adulthood to inspire the creation of Pigeons R Doves, a brand dedicated to amplifying and honoring queer voices and artists through design. The name Pigeons R Doves originates from B’s realization that there is no scientific distinction between pigeons and doves. They are distinguished only by societal perceptions shaped by cultural narratives. Pigeons are unfairly stigmatized as urban pests, instilling fear or revulsion in many while doves are revered symbols of love and peace, often seen gracing wedding ceremonies and iconic imagery with olive branches. This duality mirrors the unjust prejudices humans harbor toward one another. Inspired by daily life in New York City and the individuals embracing their most authentic selves, Pigeons R Doves aims to shine a light on that authenticity.
