Pile Dynamics, Inc.
Pile Dynamics, Inc. (PDI) develops, manufactures and supplies state of the art Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems for the deep foundations industry. With over 50 employees, it is the largest manufacturer of foundation testing equipment in the world. Founded in 1972, PDI was formed to commercialize the Pile Driving Analyzer® (PDA) system of dynamic foundation testing and its associated software now known as CAPWAP®. PDI soon started to increase its line of foundation testing systems. By the late 1970's PDI offered a hand held instrument to detect and count blows during pile driving (the Saximeter). PDI then developed the Hammer Performance Analyzer, the Angle Analyzer and, in the 1980's, the Pile Integrity Tester. The SPT Analyzer joined the PDI line of products in 1995, and the Pile Installation Recorder (for Augered cast-in-place / CFA Piles) in 1998. The Cross-Hole Analyzer for inspecting the quality of drilled shafts was introduced in 2000. Pile Dynamics systems are constantly being updated. The sensors that acquire data for several of its instruments are now wireless, dispensing with cabled connections, and the PDA may be operated remotely through the Internet. PDI's latest development, in partnership with Foundation & Geotechnical Engineering, is the Thermal Integrity Profiler. It embodies a new, temperature based technology for drilled shaft integrity testing. PDI is led by scholars in Dynamic Foundation Testing, who frequently lecture and publish on the subject. Pile Dynamics has representatives worldwide; its products are used in more than 100 countries.
