Jeremy Lear

Research Chemist at Pilot Chemical Company of Ohio, Inc.

Jeremy Lear has a background in chemical research and has worked in various roles throughout their career. Jeremy started their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Wright State University in 2012, where they investigated the synthesis and polymerization of benzyloxy substituted 1,4-di(chloromethyl)benzene for applications in OLED technology. Jeremy also developed characterization methods for polymeric materials.

After their time at Wright State University, Jeremy joined The Ohio State University as a PhD. Student. During this time, they developed and employed aliphatic ketyl radical precursors for a manganese catalyzed atom-transfer protocol. Jeremy also discovered a polarity-reversal strategy for accessing complex nucleophilic radicals and a new photocatalytic energy-transfer reaction for the Minisci reaction.

Jeremy'smost recent role was as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Ohio State University, where they advanced synthetic protocols to access heteroarene derived quinone methide precursors and developed cost-effective synthesis and reaction conditions for these precursors.

Jeremy's current position is as a Research Chemist at Pilot Chemical Company, starting in 2021.

Jeremy Lear completed their education in a chronological manner, starting with a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Chemistry from Wright State University, which they obtained in 2012. Jeremy then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Organic Chemistry from the same institution, ultimately completing it in 2014. Following this, they enrolled at The Ohio State University in 2014 and successfully earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Organic Chemistry in 2019.
