Isaac Abbs

Isaac Abbs is the current Assistant Vice Chancellor of IT & CIO at Pima Community College. Isaac has over 9 years of experience in the field of information technology and business systems.

Isaac began their career at Pima Community College in 2010 as the Director of Business Systems. In this role, they were responsible for developing key software solutions and reporting tied to the College’s ERP system. Isaac also created and implemented strategies for effective communication with students, and ensured that the college complied with PCI and HIPAA regulations at all times. In addition, Isaac formed a feedback mechanism and directed all resources towards an effective customer service delivery.

In 2012, Isaac was promoted to Director of IT Enterprise Systems. In this role, they oversaw all enterprise-level IT systems for the college. Isaac successfully brokered cost-efficient deals with vendors that eliminated extra costs and saved large sums of money. Isaac also shifted the manual, paper-based travel and expense process to Concur’s Travel & Expense Management system, which cut down costs by $68,000 annually, produced yearly revenue of $15,000 through credit card rebates, and saved around 1,700 labor hours.

Isaac has displayed excellent leadership skills while supervising various projects from start to finish. Isaac has led functional technical teams from other departments and formed a new unit called Enterprise Systems. Isaac has also coordinated with the staff and introduced differential tuition methodology that generated profit of $500,000 per year. Furthermore, they have ensured 80% reduction in payroll errors and decreased processing time by half through an automated time and attendance system; resolved the $2M gap in financial analysis by eliminating a critical error in calculations. Lastly, they have streamlined the strategic progress of the college by implementing IT project management and prioritization processes.

Isaac Abbs received their Master of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois Springfield and their Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (Computer Science, Mathematics & Spanish) from the University of Arizona. Isaac is certified from EDUCAUSE Institute Management Program in ITIL V3 Level 1 Certification.
