Dr. Gesa Biermann

Dr. Gesa Biermann has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. In 2011, they interned at BMW Group China in Quality Management Parts. From 2012 to 2014, Dr. Biermann co-founded and owned a fashion startup called "Das Goldene Taxi," where they handled market research, product development, accounting, and quality management. Dr. Gesa then worked as a Key Account Management working student at rewards arvato services from 2010 to 2011. In 2014, they co-founded and served as the Vice President of Social Impact Consulting at 180 Degrees Consulting Munich.

Dr. Biermann joined Audi Electronics Venture GmbH in 2015 as an intern in Corporate Strategy & Innovation Management. From 2016 to 2020, they were a Doctoral Candidate and part of the CDTM Management Team at the Center for Digital Technology and Management. At Bloom Partners in 2016, they worked as a Digital Strategy and Business Analyst. Dr. Gesa also gained experience in strategy consulting as a Summer Trainee at A.T. Kearney in 2016.

Currently, Dr. Biermann is a Co-Founder of Pina Earth, a company focused on protecting forests through sustainable forestry practices. This role entails developing digital tools for data collection, monitoring, and certification, as well as promoting carbon credit projects for climate change mitigation. Through their work, Dr. Gesa Biermann has demonstrated expertise in digital technology, management, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.

Dr. Gesa Biermann has a diverse educational background. In 2009-2012, they attended Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Communication Studies, Economics, and Business Studies. Dr. Gesa then pursued a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Resource Management at the Technical University of Munich from 2013 to 2016. During this time, they also participated in an exchange semester at the University of Buenos Aires, focusing on Ecology. In 2016, Dr. Biermann attended the Global Entrepreneurship Summer School at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where they focused on the topic of Migration. Dr. Gesa was affiliated with Stiftung Bayerische EliteAkademie from 2014 to 2016, participating in their Scholarship and Educational Program. Dr. Biermann later pursued a PhD in Human Geography and Sustainability at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München from 2017 to 2021. In 2019, they were a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, affiliated with the School of Information and Haas School of Business.
