Doug Stein

Doug Stein is currently the CFO at Pine Gate Renewables. Prior to this, they were with ENGIE North America Inc. from August 2019 to December 2021, where they served as Vice President People Shared Services / Head of Culture, Diversity and Inclusion. In this role, they were responsible for back-office shared services for 5 business units with over $5B in revenue across the United States and Canada, which are part of a large multinational corporation. Doug led a team that served over 5,000 employees ensuring payroll, onboarding, benefits, leave and other HR needs are met – achieving 99.8% payroll accuracy and over 90% employee satisfaction. Doug also oversaw the real estate function that included the leasing and development of 6 major regional locations.

Doug was a thought leader in creating a unified culture across 5 business units – examples include starting a rewards and recognition platform, promoting networking/mentoring programs, innovation competitions, internal communication network and other efforts to leverage an increasingly digital / hybrid workplace to increase collaboration and employee satisfaction. Doug also created a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Roadmap by engaging senior leaders and employees across the organization – DE&I changes include adding Employee Resource Groups, creating charitable campaigns, implementing diversity and inclusion training initiatives, engaging industry leaders to join the ENGIE led Renewable Energy Leadership D&I Roundtable and helping to roll out a more robust supplier diversity program.

Doug Stein has a Master of Science in Accounting from Trinity University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Accounting from Trinity University. Doug also has a certification in Diversity and Inclusion from eCornell and a certification in Certified Public Accountant from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.

They are on a team with Eric Shangle - VP, Human Resources, Steve Levitas - SVP, Regulatory & Government Affairs, and Michael Bates - SVP, Technology & Performance. Their manager is Ben Catt, CEO.
