Josh Mangel

Josh Mangel is the Chairman and former Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Pipe, a company that they helped develop an enterprise application for record labels, agencies, artist management, promoters, and venues to predict and discover high value artists. Prior to Pipe, Josh was the Co-Founder of Beatdeck, where they built a crawler which prioritized scraping frequency by determining an artist "state". Josh also created and maintained up-to-date artist database, where each artist in the database was represented by an n-dimensional database vector corresponding to n characteristics of the artist (the genes). Furthermore, Josh calculated a distance between the source item vector and any of the database artist vectors, the distance being a function of the differences between the n characteristics of the source item vector and the database artist vector. Additionally, they selected at least one match artist item based on the magnitude of the calculated distances (so producing a ranked list of artists for a given source item) and developed different scoring models for predicting ticket sales and attendance statistics. In their free time, Josh enjoys spending time with their family and friends, as well as playing tennis.
