James Martin has a diverse work experience in the legal and compliance field. James began their career as an Associate Attorney, specializing in civil and commercial litigation. James then joined MacFarlane, Ferguson, Allison and Kelly, where they represented insurers and defended professionals in malpractice lawsuits. James later worked at Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown as a Compliance Director, overseeing equity capital markets activities. Martin then moved to Rbc Dain Rauscher, where they served as a Managing Director, Divisional Counsel, and Director of Compliance for equity capital markets. Currently, they are the Chief Counsel for Investment Banking and Capital Markets at Piper Jaffray, responsible for various legal and compliance functions.
James Martin completed their education with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1982. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Law (JD) from Washington and Lee University School of Law, graduating in 1985. Later, they further expanded their knowledge in the field of law by obtaining a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate and Securities Law from New York University School of Law in 1990.
