Luke Whyte has over a decade of experience in the tech and media industries. Luke began their career in 2010 as a Writer, Editor, and Designer for Voices of Justice, an online multimedia project that focuses on telling the real life stories of California inmates, parolees and correctional officers. In 2012, they became a Frontend Developer for Tightrope Interactive, Inc., followed by a JavaScript Developer role at Bitovi in 2014, where they built JavaScript MVC applications using Can.js, Angular.js, etc. as a consultant for large Bitovi clients like Apple Inc and smaller startups. In 2015, they became a JavaScript/Python Developer for Crewspark, followed by a Front-end JavaScript Engineer role at Keepsite in 2016. That same year, they also took on a Data Journalism Fellow role at the Texas Tribune. In 2017, they became a Data Investigations Editor for the San Antonio Express-News, followed by a Data Dashboard Developer role at Yaka Labs in 2019. Most recently, in 2020, they took on a Data-driven Frontend Developer role at Apto Payments, and in 2021 they became the Editorial Director for SuperRare.
Luke Whyte received their Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Michael's College in 2005, having studied Journalism and Political Theory, as well as Journalism and Mass Communication; new media and visual communications.
