Spencer Playle

Spencer Playle has a wealth of experience in supply chain management and procurement. Spencer began their career at Sainsbury's in 1997, working as a Buyer for a period of 12 years. In 2009, they joined Gondola Group Limited as the Head of Supply Chain, overseeing all purchasing, distribution, and service requirements for brands such as PizzaExpress, Zizzi, Ask Italian, and Byron. During their tenure, they implemented new strategies to improve availability, reduce wastage, and negotiate more efficient distribution deals. Spencer was also involved in the successful sale of the brands between 2013 and 2015. Since 2015, Spencer has been working at PizzaExpress as a Supply Chain Director, where they lead a team of 8 people and manages various aspects of the supply chain, including food and non-food costs, utilities, and the Dough Factory. Spencer has successfully managed budgets, implemented sustainability initiatives, and achieved cost savings through projects such as LED lighting retrofit and food waste reduction.

Spencer Playle attended the University of Essex from 1993 to 1997, earning a BSC degree in Physics, Business Studies & Law.
