Edward A. Salina

Superintendent at PLAINEDGE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Dr. Salina was assistant superintendent in the Roslyn School District. He has more than 16 years of experience in public schools. He began his career in the New York City public schools 17 years ago as a middle and high school math teacher. In 1996, he assumed the position of Assistant Principal for the Shoreham-Wading River Middle School, following which he was appointed to a district-level leadership position in the Lindenhurst Public School District.

Utilizing his undergraduate mechanical engineering degree, Dr. Salina has successfully designed educational computer systems and networks in all of his previous school systems.

In 2001, Dr. Salina became the Director of Information Systems and Computer Education as well as Director of Administrative Services for the Roslyn Public Schools. After a short period of time, he was promoted to the position of Principal at Roslyn’s East Hills Elementary School, while continuing to have the oversight and management of the District’s technology. In 2003 he was promoted to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Administration, in which he was responsible for Human Resources as well as Administrative and Instructional Technologies.

Dr. Salina has also worked as an adjunct professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction for Touro College and L.I.U at C.W. Post, focusing his attention on the use of instructional technology in schools and programs that target the needs of special education students as well as gifted children.

Dr. Salina completed his doctoral work at Teachers College.
