Ayana Way

Head Coach - Girls Basketball Team - Maxson Middle School at Plainfield Board of Education

Ayana Way has extensive work experience in various educational and athletic roles. Ayana started their career in 2008 as a 7th-grade math teacher at Madison Public Schools. Ayana taught math classes and developed interactive lesson plans for approximately 80 to 90 students each year. Ayana Way also worked at Plainfield Board of Education as a head coach for the girls' basketball team at Maxson Middle School and Cedarbrook K-8 Center, where they enhanced students' understanding of the game and mentored athletes. Ayana also served as a math teacher at Plainfield Board of Education and taught two to three math classes each year. Additionally, Ayana Way has experience as a camp coordinator and unit leader at various organizations, where they supervised counselors and organized recreational activities for children. Ayana also worked part-time as a front desk associate at RWJ Rahway Fitness & Wellness Center and Planet Fitness. Most recently, they held the position of an athletic site manager at Plainfield Public Schools. Overall, Ayana Way has demonstrated a strong passion for education, athletics, and mentoring students.

Ayana Way began their education journey in 2004 at Centenary University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Education degree in Mathematics Education. Ayana attended Centenary University from 2004 to 2008. Following this, Ayana continued their academic pursuits by enrolling in Montclair State University in 2016. At Montclair State University, they completed a Master's degree in Exercise Science & Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Administration & Coaching. Ayana's studies at Montclair State University lasted from 2016 to 2018.
