Molly Ludwig-Henningsgaard is an experienced art therapist and business owner, currently serving as the owner of Soul Painting and an art therapist at Plains Area Mental Health since January 2015. With a background that includes positions as an art therapist and addiction counselor at Jackson Recovery Centers and an art instructor at Thunder Willow Community Art Center, Molly specializes in leading art therapy groups aimed at stress relief, symptom management, and the development of coping skills. Previous roles include art therapy internships at the VA Medical Center and Aurora St. Luke's Medical Hospital, where Molly provided individual therapy and co-led various therapeutic initiatives. Educational qualifications include a graduate degree in Art Therapy with a concentration in Counseling from Mount Mary University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Art from Briar Cliff University.

In 1972, after years of planning and deliberation, the Plains Area Mental Health Center proudly opened its doors one day a week and began serving the residents of Plymouth County. During the first year, 166 patients were seen. Over the years, the organization has grown and changed in response to community needs across the region. Today, Plains Area Mental Health Center has offices in many locations across Northwest Iowa. Our staff includes trained and experienced doctors, nurses, counselors, therapists and support staff. We are proud of the many benefits and services we provide for people of all ages across the region.
