Manuela Magnúsdóttir

Manuela Magnúsdóttir has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Their most recent role is as the Head of Development at PLAIO, a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Mass Spectrometry Scientist at Alvotech from May 2020 to February 2022. Manuela also worked as a Software Tester at K3 Business Technologies in March 2020 and as a Teaching Assistant at Háskóli Íslands from August 2019 to December 2019.

Manuela's earlier experience includes being a Research Associate at the Mass Spectrometry laboratory of the Center for Systems Biology, University of Iceland, where they worked from March 2011 to May 2016. Manuela also conducted M.Sc. thesis research at the University of Iceland from 2008 to 2010 and worked as a Teaching Assistant and Research Associate in the same institution during that time.

Before pursuing their career in science, Manuela worked briefly as a Travel Agent at Iceland Travel in June 2007.

Throughout their career, Manuela has gained skills and expertise in various areas such as sample processing, sterile lab work, maintaining and running samples on LC-qTOF, Western blotting, site-directed mutagenesis, PCR, DNA sequencing, bacterial cultivation, protein purification, SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis, thermal stability measurements, enzyme kinetics, circular dichroism, and fluorescence spectroscopy.

Manuela Magnúsdóttir completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Háskóli Íslands from 2005 to 2008. Manuela then pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from the same university from 2008 to 2010. Recently, from 2017 to 2020, they attended Háskóli Íslands again and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
