Mr. Georgios Gerardos is the founder of Plaisio Computers, one of the leading Greek companies and holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors. The main activity of Plaisio is the assembly and trading of computers, the trading of telecommunications equipment, the trading of stationery and office equipment as well as the trading of household appliances, with a turnover that in 2021 exceeded 430 million euros and more than 1,400 employees.
Mr. Georgios Gerardos was born in Paleo Faliro in 1946. He is a Civil Engineer graduate of the National Technical University of Athens.
In 1969, Mr. Georgios Gerardos, at the age of 23 and still a student at the National Technical University of Athens, founded Plaisio in Stournari Street in a 12 sq.m. shop. for the provision of design items for the students of the Polytechnic. The company's entry into the IT market was accompanied by increased demand resulting in the increase of Plaisio's presence points in main points of Athens. In 1988, Mr. Georgios Gerardos founded Plaisio Computers in its current corporate form.
In 1999 he introduced the company to the Athens Stock Exchange while for 8 consecutive years he managed to make Plaisio one of the 500 fastest growing companies in Europe (Europe 500).
In 2005, he proceeded to expand Plaisio's activities in Bulgaria, founding Plaisio Computers JSC.
Mr. Georgios Gerardos, with his eye on the future, managed to make Plaisio synonymous with technology and absolute customer service. With this in mind, in 1986 Plaisio assembled the first consumer computer in the Greek market under the registered brand name Turbo-X. In 1995, Mr. Georgios Gerardos becomes a member of the multi-channel approach to retail by setting up a department for direct sales and shipments via telephone, fax and catalogs. In 1999 he created the first online store in Greece, www.plaisio.gr and in 2009 he inaugurated a modern logistics center of 22,500 sq.m. in Magoula Attica. In 2019, Plaisio celebrated 50 years in the Greek Market with the opening of the Group's 25th store and the entry into the White Appliances market.
