Denise Camou Torrendell is an accomplished professional in the fields of User Experience and Design Thinking, currently serving as the Head of User Experience at Ceibal since May 2023. With a rich background that includes co-founding the User Research studio Personas and leading digital anthropology initiatives at UNESCO, Denise demonstrates expertise in improving user interactions through research-based methodologies. Other notable roles include being a Senior Innovation Manager at CPA Ferrere, a User Experience Senior Manager at Ladiaria, and serving on evaluation committees for the Agencia Nacional de Desarrollo and ANII. Denise has also contributed to academia as a Design Thinking assistant professor at multiple universities. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, a Master’s in Corporate Social Responsibility, and a Postgraduate Degree in Innovation & Design Thinking, complemented by specialized courses in UX research and ethnographic methods.

Ceibal Plan

In December 2006, President Tabaré Vázquez announced that the Ceibal Plan would be launched and that with it, every student and teacher in public schools throughout the country would receive a free laptop. That was the kickoff for this ambitious socio-educational project, which puts Uruguay at the forefront in reducing the digital divide, inclusion, and equity in access to education.
