Data Scientist at Planalytics

Jacqueline Zhang has worked in various roles since 2016. Her most recent position was as a Data Analyst at Planalytics, which they began in 2022. In this role, they conducted A/B testing with quasi-experimental methods, executed quality control and data cleaning on gigabytes of retail client data, and performed ad-hoc and investigative analyses. Jacqueline also accelerated the turnaround time for client data issues and for running data through the forecasting model by developing and implementing a data cleaning library and quality control script using Python.

Prior to this, they worked as a Lead Project Analyst at GEO1: Airborne Lidar and Imaging from 2019-2022. In this role, they performed root cause analysis on pain points, utilized Python pandas, numpy, and kml libraries to automate formatting and QA/QC steps, built and maintained a tree species dashboard, resolved issues in client's data accuracy, created Powerpoint presentations, optimized project workflows with integration of Python and Bash scripts, and lead training classes on lidar, PLS-CADD 3D modeling, Global Mapper, and Python script utilization.

In 2019, they also worked as a Restoration Botany Intern for the Santa Monica Mountains National Park Service. In this role, they conducted vegetation mapping, native and nonnative plant surveying, GPS navigation, and collecting plot-based vegetation and habitat data. Jacqueline also worked on restoration projects in weed abasement and led volunteer events with high school students.

From 2016-2019, they worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at the UCLA La Kretz Center for California Conservation Science. In this role, they lead and designed the hypothesis, methodology, and poster of an independent research project, conducted ANOVA tests of different plant traits, presented preliminary results at UCLA Undergraduate Research Poster Day and LA Kretz/Stunt Ranch Reserves Research Lightning Talks, and developed a geographic project using GIS to map all rare and threatened plant species in California.

Jacqueline Zhang completed their Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2019. Jacqueline has also obtained certifications from Coursera in 2021, including Introduction to Relational Database and SQL in November, Applied Plotting, Charting & Data Representation in Python in June, and Introduction to Data Science in Python in April.
